Moving Forward ... Moving Forward
In spite of the different views about the concept of inter-faith and its practice in Nigeria, the Interfaith Dialogue Forum for Peace (IDFP) carries out interfaith activity to bring about understanding of religious teachings among the followers of the two major faiths - Islam and Christianity. The Interfaith Dialogue Forum for Peace (IDFP) believes that a proper illumination of several doctrines, concepts and practices of the Christianity and Islam will reduce tension and minimize conflicts usually promoted by ignorance of the doctrines and tenets of the different faiths and thereby promoting peaceful coexistence. The major core and stance of the Interfaith Dialogue Forum for Peace (IDFP) is to achieve peace in Nigeria. Hence, sincerity is the watch word for her inter faith activities. The forum does not attempt to undermine the differences in the different faiths instead it passionately pursues them with utmost responsibility and understanding. To achieve this, the forum organizes events where religious scholars from the two dominant faiths - Islam and Christianity are invited to dialogue on doctrines and tenets of the two religious and the position of religious text concerning peaceful co-existence in multi-religious communities like Nigeria. KAICIID is an intergovernmental organization that promotes dialogue to build peace in conflict areas. It does this by enhancing understanding and cooperation between people of different cultures and followers of different religions. The Centre was founded by Austria, Saudi Arabia and Spain. The Holy See is the Founding Observer. Its Board of Directors comprises prominent representatives from five major world religions (Buddhism, Christianity, Hinduism, Islam, and Judaism). The Board designs and supervises the Centre’s programmes.
