THE PROTECTION OF HOLY AND SACRED SITES: THE ROLES OF YOUNG LEADERS

The Immediate Past President of THE Christian Council of Nigeria Most Rev. Dr. B. F Fubara-Manuel, and the Founder of Islamic Research & Daw’ah Foundation Imam Muhammad Nuru Khalid, were both speakers at the KAICIID INTERNATIONAL FELLOWS PROGRAMME (A ONE DAY HIGH-LEVEL ENGAGEMENT WITH YOUTH RELIGIOUS LEADERS) with the theme: THE PROTECTION OF HOLY AND SACRED SITES: THE ROLES OF YOUNG LEADERS
 
The two groups representing young leaders in the event are the Youth Wing Christian Association of Nigeria (#YOWICAN) and the National Council of Muslim Youth Organisations (#NACOMYO).
 
After the high-level engagement, the two groups came up with the following:
What’s next for YOWICAN?
  • Train the trainer on the importance of protecting the holy sites
  • Frequent inter-religious programmes to foster unity
  • Designing an education module on the protection of holy sites
  • Sensitization on the protection of holy sites using various social media handles
YOWICAN Commitment
  • Accepting and respecting other religions and their ideologies and beliefs
  • Serve as protectors of holy sites
  • Continually organize interreligious discussions on the protection of holy and sacred sites
  • Teaching respect and interreligious understanding in faith-based schools
What’s Next for NACOMYO?
  • To orientate those around us to have absolute respect for people of other faith
  • Encourage other religious leaders to participate in inter-faith programmes
  • To use social media platforms as an outreach medium
